But as we have seen so far Apple does not do updates more frequently than once a year and the last one was in June 2009.
But! There is a huge chance that they will update they Mac product line quiet soon, because first of all there are PCs with the newest Intel chips around from quiet long time so Macs are outdated and secondly Apple will start shipping its new toy iPad around June, so it just can’t be the new line of Macs and iPad in the same time

Apple could update battery life in their laptops to 10 hours like iPad already has.
Nice specs, but u won’t be able to run Mac OSX on PC laptop. On Mac u can run both: Leopard and Windows. And even Linux
So still I think that Apple’s computers are better in terms of software and hardware. U won’t get laptop PC built from aluminum.
I bet it will be June (the whole upgrade of Mac line). Now Apple is focusing on its new baby – iPad.

Acer that bad? I thought £700 for i5 and ati M HD 5650 is too good to be true.
Current Macbook, doesn’t the very expensive one have 9600GT which is very dated by now?
I am just an average consumer looking for a good deal, Tired of my worn out 2008 aluminium Macy.
My initial thought was that £700 i5 and good GPU was a bargain but if you say acer is bad I take your word for it.
Any advice for a good laptop for around £800 obviously not macbook their too expensive by now.
Acer has the highest failure rate in the mainstream market currenty.Comparingit to companies like Asus,Sony,&Apple which are the top 3 least likely to fail, tells me something.The initial $ amount is all you care about.
Ur video card is entry level, the i3 is the entry level i series processor. U have a larger screen with lower resolution.U have a basic Windows machine.
the current 6+month old MacbookPro15′runs circles around urAcer which is 4 times more likely to fail in the 1st year.
If mbp hasnt been launced by the end of Marts I am willing either to go out elsewhere and buy a non-mac notebook or buying the currect version of mbp and face the fact it one day will be outdated, But hey all notebooks will be outdated sooner or later..
I have been waiting too and checking every single day. Just checked out Sony’s offerings and man they have some pretty great specs at great prices. Some people have jumped ship. Common Apple!

@1370515a Dude are you serious? Or are you just looking for attention? Either way Dave is doing the best he can to report on the information that he has. He doesnt make the decision on when to launch these laptops…apple has the final say on that and you should know that. To assume that It’s somehow dave’s fault that these things aren’t out yet is just ridiculous.

Ive been following the “the unofficial waiting for arrandale” thread for months now and as of now everyone or most people in that thread have been hoping for a February 23rd release date so dont patronize me and act like i dont know what i’m talking about. Where do you get off being a complete asshole anyway? I was just relaying the information that i had.

Acer Aspire 5740G for £700
Its going to be hard to beat this puppy, massive value for money. Macbook pro will as always have awful GPU and will cost £1,000(bad one) and £2,000 for a good one.
so do u think that there will be a significant price difference between the core 2 duo and core i3-5-7
what other changes do u think will be made?
